Metal Detectors
Usefulness of Metal Detectors Print E-mail
I guess metal detectors are useful. I see enough people walking around with them. They must pay for themselves. These people must be finding lost coins and valuable metals or they would not be walking up and down the highway and thorugh the fields with them. There are hundreds of companies that make them. Bounty Hunter, White, Garrett, Kellyco and a host of others. They must be a valuable product to those who use them. I only have one problem with them. They go off every time I try to go through the airport. I am not a valuable piece of metal. I am a person with metal in my body. Yes, I tore my knees up playing football and it was before they started replacing body parts with synthetic materials. So, I am one of those people with the metal ball and joint in the knee. The last time I was in the airport the metal detector didn’t just go off. It brought the entire airport police, FBI, and invisible security people screaming and flashing badges and guns like I was some threatening individual. Before that happened I was considering buying a metal detector. I like to find money and rare metals that pay out. But I changed my mind. That terror was one of the worst moments of my life. I am not angry at the airport people. They have to protect us. There are people out here that want to do harm to our people, facilities, and our country That sophisticated metal detector that they use in the airports is absolutely shocking. When it detected the metal in my knee you would have thought they detected a bomb in my underwear. The hassels of security are well worth it when they stop the right person, especially a terriorist!!
